Anders Krisár's High Diver (2), 2023-24, is a personal portrait of his father in his youth, reflecting a pivotal moment in his life.
Growing up in a turbulent and traumatic environment, Krisár's father found solace in high diving, eventually becoming one of Hungary's top divers.
This work is part of a larger investigation into his father’s life before he was affected by schizophrenia, a condition that has defined much of their relationship.
Through the image of diving, Krisár explores a metaphorical leap - his father’s departure from shared reality into his own as he gradually retreated from the world around him.
The limited edition of 30 copies bears the artist’s signature and is individually numbered. Each sculpture is cast by hand using the Lost-Wax-Process, patinated and chased by hand.
